The early Moravian writings also say that the Drylands had no streams or springs, which made them uninhabitable for them and other European newcomers until people started digging wells there. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I like your grandmother&amp;#39;s story. There was very little forest land as the Indians had burned all of the vegetation to drive the game into the open to hunt.
